Filternox® self-cleaning filters require a minimum inlet pressure of 2 bar to ensure efficient and complete cleaning of the filter elements during the backwash cycle. Under normal filtration conditions the operating pressure depends on the project design, but a minimum of 2 bar at the inlet is strongly recommended. For brush-cleaning systems, 1 bar is sufficient. Filternox® also offers dedicated solutions for systems operating below 1 bar.
Backwash water consumption depends on the water quality, the filtration surface area, the filtration degree, the cleaning mechanism and the operating pressure.
Yes. The screens are usually manufactured from AISI 316L, Duplex or Super Duplex stainless steel. The vacuum nozzles can be customized in plastic, stainless steel or Duplex materials.
Yes. When the appropriate stainless steel grade is selected, Filternox® filters are designed to operate reliably in seawater and other corrosive environments.
Standard Filternox® designs operate safely up to a temperature of 95°C.
Yes. Thanks to their special design, Filternox® filters cope smoothly with both variable flow-rate conditions and intermittent operation scenarios.
Initial (clean) pressure drop at nominal flow: < 0.03 bar
Backwash is triggered when the differential pressure reaches the set value (e.g. 0.5 bar).
Operation & Maintenance Questions
Under normal operating conditions, where backwashing occurs every two hours, Filternox® filters require preventive maintenance approximately once a year.
Usually only consumable parts — such as seals and, where necessary, screens — are replaced.
Under normal operating conditions, in systems where backwashing occurs every two hours, Filternox® filters are designed for a 20-year life cycle and, with correct use and regular maintenance, can exceed this period.
Routine maintenance can be performed by the customer's operators; Filternox® systems are designed to be user-friendly.
Project & Installation Questions
No. Standard models do not require a concrete foundation. Filternox® can provide custom mounting solutions or skid systems for special applications.

Installation requirements
A drawing of the installation point, if available, is very helpful.
The production time depends on the model, the complexity of the project and the current workload. For an exact delivery date, please contact Filternox®.
Yes. Filternox® provides 3D CAD models, P&IDs, GA drawings and all required documentation in accordance with the project standards.
Commercial & Sustainability Questions
The patented technologies of Filternox® significantly reduce backwash water consumption. In addition, the backwash water can be reused.
Yes. Filternox® filters comply with the principal international standards.
The patented Filternox® model with dual-action brush and vacuum nozzle is the ideal solution for cooling water applications.
Through effective filtration and automatic cleaning, Filternox® filters prevent particle build-up on heat transfer surfaces, thereby maintaining high thermal efficiency.
Yes. Filternox® filters are suitable for reclaimed and greywater applications.
Automation & Integration Questions
Filternox® control panels support Modbus, Profibus and Profinet. Depending on the PLC selection, other protocols can be considered. Standard dry-contact outputs are also available.
Yes. The panels integrate seamlessly with most automation and SCADA systems via the supported communication protocols or dry contacts. Integration requirements should be specified during the project phase.
Yes. When the required interface is defined in advance, Filternox® filters can be connected to remote monitoring or IoT platforms. Additional requirements can be evaluated according to the customer's infrastructure and the PLC specifications.
