Filternox® filter, which was designed as Ex-Proof, has just been manufactured and shipped to the factory.
In general, prominent problems in well water filtration are grouped under three main headings:
The solution to the first of these problems is challenging as it requires a special filter with backwash system. Usually a tank is installed after the well. This increases investment cost and adds the need to be cleaned periodically.
Filternox®, has developed solutions to these three problems mentioned above without the need for adding a balance tank.
With the first activation of the pump, all the sand, silt and other organic or inorganic particles accumulated in the well can suddenly enter the filter, cover the surface of the filter screen and block it. In this case, Filternox® patented double cleaning filter is the definite solution. The double cleaning filter discharges first all the coarse and cleanable particles, swept with a brush, via its drainage line. Immediately after this process, the remaining particles left on the screen surface are removed by the vacuum suction system.
If there is turbidity in the water and this is a problem, then Filternox® NTU Terminator takes over the solution. NTU Terminator incorporates a deep filtration screen specially developed by Filternox R&D division and significantly eliminates turbidity thanks to the adsorption property of this screen.
Thirdly, if there is iron and manganese in the water, since they are dissolved, first, chlorine is added to oxidize these metals to form rust particles. Filternox® NTU Terminator retains these particles within its special screen.
Finally the hardest issue: what should be done if the first and second problems coexist?
Our patented double backwash system Filternox® filter can also be manufactured as NTU Terminator as a special design, to suit the specific needs of your facility or industry. This way, very poor-quality water coming from the well is rid from particles and turbidity.
This filtration system was produced and delivered as a skid system by Filternox® for City Hospital in Istanbul in 2018. It has been successfully commissioned in May 2020 and is now fully operational. The skid system comprises a pump and all other auxiliary equipment including a PLC control panel.

Filternox® model NTU Terminator FMSL-V-MR was shipped to a customer last week for installation and commissioning. The results were simply astonishing! Filternox engineers repeated the tests and could only confirm the mind boggling findings.

At Eskisehir 3rd Regional Directorate Irrigation Project, a large fish reached one of Filternox® automatic backwashing filters that have been in operation since April 2017. This happened in spite of the coarse intake strainer where water is abstracted from the nearby dam. The automatic backwashing system of our filter has discharged the fish through the 2″(DN50) diameter drainage. The purpose of our filters is to remove such large contaminants from the system by means of our internationally patented dual cleaning device (brushes & vacuum nozzles). Otherwise, this kind of large contaminants may remain in the filter, eventually causing mechanical damage. Moreover, they may reach the irrigation system and damage hydrant, counter and other elements.

Filternox has shipped 6 units of Filternox Self Cleaning Filters designed as per ASME Sec VIII, Div.1 code with U-Stamp to Middle East.
As an automatic self-cleaning filter manufacturer, Filternox® has designed patented new technology products to guarantee continuous filtration under high TSS conditions.
The sea water quality varies widely in various ports around the world and some of them, especially in Shanghai and Hamburg, where there is intense traffic, includes excessive high particle load. This situation causes serious problems especially in terms of ballast water.
Very high amounts of suspended solids cause two main problems if they cannot be effectively filtered out of sea water.
As is known, the filtration level of the filters used in ballast water treatment systems should be very low, since it is necessary both to reach the above mentioned standards and to increase the efficiency of the disinfection system, which is applied after filtration.
In the light of this information, the Filternox® R & D group applied for the test of their specially designed filter with double-action cleaning system, developed in 2018, in an accredited test facility in the Netherlands.
As a result of the 20 micron filtration test, the rate of living organism removal in the Filternox double cleaning system was 99%.
For this purpose, the so-called test “Shanghai Test”, the synthesized sludge was dosed into the filter inlet water to adjust the water to be filtered to the SS value of 1850 ppm. As a result of this test carried out with a 20 micron filter screen, the Filternox® filter has successfully completed uninterrupted operation by providing perfect cleaning on the screen surface after every automatic backwash with all its functions.
The tests were carried out for 5 days and were registered with a detailed result report. Those interested can request a detailed report of this test from info@filternox.com.
The success of the tests is the result of in-depth experience of Filternox® staff, contributing to the design of Filternox® products over 30 years.

Filternox® patented technology SPT-WBV-MR model filters have been supplied for Veolia for the project of raw well water filtration in a Water Treatment Plant, Serbia. The filters have been provided with custom design according to project requirement with complete stainless steel structure, with its PLC electric control panel and electric actuated outlet valves.

The Solution Mining Research Institute (SMRI) defines solution mining as “mining of underground, water-soluble minerals, usually using one or more drilled wells to dissolve the minerals with water”. Minerals such as salt, potash, trona, and magnesium salts may be produced by pumping saturated fluid from underground caverns. The caverns are created by pumping out the saturated ‘brine’ while pumping in fresh water as a controlled production process. The minerals are then recovered from the saturated fluid by recrystallization.
Filternox® played a big role in the second biggest trona reserve in the world. Trona reserves are meant to be dissolved with hot water injection by production wells, which then forms trona solution (brine). This mining facility provides the trona solution (brine) which is the raw material of the process plant.
The trona (sodium sesquicarbonate Na2CO3 NaHCO32H2O) is mined by solution mining, a safe and environmentally friendly mining technique. The trona solution, i.e., brine which is subjected to monohydrate process in the production lines of process unit is converted into Dense Soda Ash and Sodium Bicarbonate products, and 2.5 million tons of Dense Soda Ash and 200,000 tons of Sodium Bicarbonate is produced annually.
Dense soda ash produced from trona at the plant is used in a wide range of industrial areas such as glass industry, paper production, and detergent production. Sodium Carbonate is a basic salt. Its aqueous solution is clear and colourless, and its chemical formula is Na2CO3.
In the solution pretreatment unit, suspended solids are removed from brine, which come from the mining wells. The suspended solids are removed with Filternox® filters. 16 units of Filternox® filters remove particles down to 25 micron. After the whole filtration process, the filtrated brine is stored in the raw brine tanks.

New regulations require for almost all types of vessels to implement filtration systems of maximum 50 microns followed by a UV system for disinfection of ballast water. Filternox® engineers developed a new model designed specifically for ballast water treatment.
As the ballast system requires high flows, and to meet the 50 micron filtration requirement, filtration surface areas have to be large. The technology used in Filternox® ballast water treatment systems provide the optimum surface area for efficient filtration.
Filternox® also offers models that combine two stage filtration within one unit with automatic self-cleaning of the coarse screen structure integrated into the fine screen body, making it ideal for management of ballast water.
For a more complete and safer ballast water filtration system, Filternox® can also implement the BMF-TW filter to eliminate larger particles and protect the pump.
